Registration

FAQs

How do I register a team?
Select the region that you are going to compete in and read the information on that page carefully. There is a link to Trybooking on that page to register your team.

What if I can’t register online with a credit card?
1. Download the generic tax invoice for manual payment from this page.
2. Complete and arrange for your finance area to pay. When processed payment is received by CBCA Qld Branch the receipt will be returned to your school with a code noted on the receipt. Our volunteer treasurer will usually have this complete a few days after funds are received
3. Go into the Trybooking link from your region’s page and at checkout use the code to reduce the fee.

Where are the regions?
Go to the Regional Competitions page to see all of the competitions.

My region’s competition doesn’t suit?
There are no regional boundaries. If the date of the competition does not suit you (eg clashes with other school events) you are welcome to compete in another region. However you can only compete in one region, not multiple regions.

More FAQS

How come I no longer get free registration for my team when I am a member of CBCA Qld Branch?
It was decided at the AGM to make membership equitable and more accessible for everyone so the membership fee was reduced substantially. All types of members can now receive a discount for readers cup registration.

What is the fee for?
The regional and state competitions are funded through registrations. This includes trophies, medallions, prizes and author appearances. CBCA Qld Branch is a not for profit charity and registrations alone is not enough, other fundraising is necessary to help run the competition.

I need to register more teams that my region allows because I have (two, three, four…) teams?
The number of teams allowed to compete in each region is governed by space, and we cannot accommodate more. Think about running a school competition in Term 1 to determine who will go on to compete in the regional competition.

Can I use the same books that are being read for the Regional Competition for my school competition?
No. You must use different books.

Even more FAQs

How do I join CBCA Qld Branch?
Go to the CBCA Qld Branch website to find out how to join. Remember to complete this first so you get the code to receive the discounted rate.

When to registrations open and close?
They open on 1 March and close at the end of Term 1. We need schools to register by then so that everything can be organised. CBCA Qld Branch and Readers Cup is run totally by volunteers most of whom work fulltime in schools.

When can students be given the books?
Check your regional competition page, but generally they should not be given until the last week of Term 1.

What if I have more questions about my regional competition?
You should direct all questions to your regional coordinator email address which is on the competition page.
Please remember that our hard working coordinators do this voluntarily and also juggle busy work and home lives.
